What’s the range of the kit?
Depends on the box. The high-end Meraki Wi-Fi hardware has powerful radios that burn through the thickest of walls. The average range is about 50m.
Can I make my own vouchers?
On all plans, you can make your own Internet vouchers (which provide timed access). You can either give these away or sell them. On the large plan, you can even customise the design of the Internet voucher!
Do I get a private network?
Yes, you get two Wi-Fi networks – an encrypted one for your staff and a public one with login screens. If you use the Meraki equipment, you’ll get up to 15 Networks.
How do I get online?
Your customers access the Internet through a login screen (which you can rebrand to match your business). There are a few ways to control the access from Internet vouchers to a registration portal.
Why do I need a service?
The PolkaSpots Service is the bit that turns your everyday router into a public (guest) Wi-Fi Hotspots. It allows you to control and customise your hotspot. It also shows you who’s using it and what they’re doing. The hardware is what shares the signal out.
Do I need broadband
Yes, you’ll need some sort of Internet connection. Use your preferred supplier or we’ll sort it out for you.
Do I need to be in the UK
No, all you need is the Internet. There are PolkaSpots all over the world.
Is it legally compliant
Yes, we record all the information required by the digital economy bill and data protection act. That’s the whole point.
Can I upload a logo
You can upload whatever you want to the login screens. Using our cloud-based management portal, you can modify the login pages to match your business.
Do I get reports?
Yeah, you can view graphs and reports as well.
Is there a contract?
Only if you need broadband or are on the ‘Supersized’ plan. The rest are pay-as-you go.
Can I switch plans?
Do what you want princess. If you change, you’ll receive a partial-month upgrade fee when upgrading or a credit when downgrading.
Can I extend the signal?
Yeah, just buy more Wi-Fi access points and plug them in where you need extra coverage.
Can PolkaSpots install it?
Yeah man, totally. We’ve spent 7 years learning the dark art of installing reliable Wi-FI networks.
Will you look after me
The ‘Supersized’ plan comes with phone, email and onsite support. The large one just comes with email support.
